Prepare Your Kids For The Post-Digital Age

It’s only recently that the concept of ‘kidpreneurs has picked up. What’s that, you ask? It’s quite self-explanatory. It’s all about kids with big, innovative, and creative ideas who have the potential to start a business from the ground up.

It’s no news that a kid’s mind is a space of wonder. Kids of all ages have the ability to use the power of their mind which helps express themselves artistically, create new inventions, and launch businesses like never before. That’s how the concept of kidpreneurs kick-started.

While some may think that young entrepreneurship only focuses on programming for kids. That’s not really the case. It goes way beyond that. Inculcating entrepreneurial skills is beneficial in several ways. However, it’s not easy to do so.

Here are a few tips on how to make your kids the ultimate kidpreneurs.
-       Let kids brainstorm and dream big: They might have a tiny brain, but they are full of big ideas.

-       Coach them to set goals: Kids with big ideas and thought starters need to put pen to paper. That will make a world of difference and give a clear-headed direction.

-     Redirect their failures: In the big business world you’re bound to have sudden ups and downs. So while you support your kid’s successes, make sure you show them endless opportunities when they fail.

-       Teach them how a business plan works: A simple outline will help your kids structure their ideas and thoughts better. Think of it as a mind-map.

-       Invest, invest, invest: If you’re going to support your kid in the business, you need to invest in them as well. However, don’t just handout money to them randomly. Make sure it comes from a place of hard work. For instance, it can be their reward for helping around the house.

Now if we’re talking about programming for kids, then you should know that it does wonders. For instance:
-       Helps in problem solving: Simply understanding how games or computers work helps kids appreciate how things function. They understand the basics of solving a problem, logically and creatively. Something that is often missing in school curriculum's.

-       Helps develop resilience: Kids usually set back after failures. However, that’s not the case if kids learn to code. When they learn to code, they develop the ability to bounce back. They understand that failing isn’t all that bad. Instead, it gives them an opportunity to learn and discover a new way of achieving something.

-       Helps them think: Computer programming is not all about teaching how to type lines of code. It’s much more than it. It’s about teaching kids how to think uniquely. It involves both logical and creative thinking. Kidpreneurs need to identify the larger problem and break it down into smaller pieces. Only then will they be able to solve it effectively.

-       Helps them prepare for the future: Let’s face it, computer programming is the future. If kids possess this skill from an early age, it will help them in the future.

So, all in all, watch your kidpreneurs take the world by storm, creatively and passionately.

Subjects That Should Be Made Mandatory in School

How well a child is rounded and trained as an adult has a lot to do with what they were taught in school. Most of what they teach a child at school is worth remembering, even things that are out of their syllabus – for their personal and professional development. We do, however, wonder how well schools equip children with knowledge that allows them with skills that they may or may not need? Does school teach children everything they need to know? Evidently, there is a dearth of practical knowledge to help children navigate through life. Early childhood education shapes a child and they need more that just “education” to survive. Here are some subjects that should be included within a school’s syllabus, and most often aren’t.

Nutrition
Adolescent obesity and juvenile diabetes are enough reason to ensure that your child understands the true meaning of nutrition and isn’t brought up in a way that urges them to gorge on chips to fill up their tummy. Instead of struggling with a diet and exercise later, children should learn the importance of a balanced diet and sustainable food choices earlier in life.

Coding
Coding can be an innovating way to foster “kidpreneurs” who go on to become successful entrepreneurs. How often do children who spend their time playing games on a screen know what went into developing that game? It also broadens a child’s problem-solving skills and practical thinking abilities. Programming for Kids can also pave the way for a successful career in coding for children inclined towards it.

Cooking
Cooking, might we add, is not a gender specific subject. If both genders are capable of eating, then both genders are capable of cooking too. Knowing how to cook a meal isn’t just good for your health but is also good for your wallet. It sustains you and is an essential skill for basic physical survival and independence. Cooking doesn’t mean stirring up a culinary masterpiece. It also means whipping up a simple, healthy meal that you can enjoy and is a skill everybody should have.

Taxes & Budgeting
Your child will learn what they learn to eventually grow up and earn their own money by living their dreams. However, how often do schools teach your children how to manage the money they will eventually? How to manage your taxes and how to make a personal budget are imperative skills that every child must have. Knowing how to manage your finances is just as important as being financially stable and independent and this must be inculcated within a child from an early age.

Why Is Computer Coding for Kids Important?

The current generation has successfully gone from considering coding as merely a “cool thing to do” to realizing that apart from being cool, it does carry with it a lot of scope in terms of jobs and financial stability. Apart from the obvious benefits of computer coding for kids there are other, not so commonly talked about, benefits that making coding a really sought-after field of knowledge. Read on, for we have listed down some interesting benefits of coding.

The Demand For Coders Is At An All Time High
Computer programming for kids is very important for it increases your child’s chances at securing a lucrative job in IT and other computer dominated sectors in a world where computing heavy jobs are growing at a speedy rate – over twice the average of the national average in the past years. Computer coding for kids has rapidly become an extremely vital skill.

Coding Helps Children Understand The World Around Them Better
We are ignorant to what makes up our laptops, smartphones, websites, video games and networks. Programming knowledge helps children understand how we interact with technology and it reveals the reality of how many possibilities coding carries. Someday, your child could become one of the student entrepreneurs that developed a breakthrough app!

Coding Makes You Creative!
Languages help you express yourselves and the same logic goes with code. When children merely consume matter on social media, it doesn’t contribute to themselves as much as it would while developing their own cool video game or app. Coding helps them express themselves in a rather clever way.

Coding Aids Problem Solving
Computer programming for kids helps children take complex problems and break it down into smaller, easier parts. Children also learn to approach their problems in a logical and practical manner. It improves their ability to solve complex problems by managing them in manageable bits.

Hence, if your child is inclined towards technology, encourage him/her to learn computer coding for kids. It serves as a great career guide as well as an interesting hobby.
