Nurturing The Business Delegates Of Tomorrow, Starting Today!

When kids are younger, they have their own ways of thinking. If you notice and think in retrospect, you will recollect that as a kid, you did have some ideas you felt could have totally rocked the world. But as we grew up, these thoughts were confined to certain restrictions and constrains that we got accustomed to thinking in one particular direction. This, for so many years of our lives, that thinking out of the box has become very impossible for us.

But the scenario today is very different. Kids are encouraged to think differently and express their ideas. Educational institutes around the world are trying to develop a unique education system that will not only encourage children to express their ideas confidently, but also nurture their business ideas confidently. Hence, there are so many interschool competitions that are organized on a yearly basis to give a platform to the student entrepreneurs. The best idea wins the price. These young entrepreneurs are judged not just on the basis of their ideas, but even how they present it, what benefits the society is going to gain from their ideas and how it will be worthy of the money the investors put in.

Competitions of these kind prepare the young entrepreneurs for the challenges of tomorrow. There are even classes for these. It is not a typical class environment where the teacher talks and the students listens. They are interactive sessions where equal participation is encouraged from all students.

Other than entrepreneurship, coding is another skill set which many thinktanks believe should be taught to kids at a very young age. Coding for kids and learning the language of programming (language that helps us to communicate with a computer) will place them on the driver’s seat of technology and not just more consumers. They can produce their own programs and games making the learning all the more fun and exciting.

Why Your Child Should Learn Coding?

This generation is leading a drastically different childhood as compared to any other generation. Until recently, the only echo chambers a child used to have were his/her family, neighbourhood and schools. But lately, it has expanded to include technology.

Accordingly, learning computer coding for kids has become very common. While most parents are intimidated by how much technology influences kids, the reality is that their obsession is natural given they were born in a time when technology had already entered all homes. With time, their relationship with technology is only going to get deeper.

Another advantage of teaching programming for kids is that it helps them learn math in a way that is very practical and helps them in real life. By being able to visualise abstract concepts, kids are able to grasp more complicated topics of math much more effectively. The correlation between learning coding and cognitive development has been proven and accepted for decades.

The future is bright for the kids who master a programing language, especially if they want to be kidpreneurs. There are psychological benefits to learning coding. When kids forget solutions, they try to come up with their own solutions the moment they master the syntax and unlock the way sequences work.  Moreover, they familiarize themselves with the trial and error process by failing over and over again.

In an age where kids are encouraged to learn to be better every single day, and many parents insist on the kids being perfectionists, learning coding helps them to learn how to fail gracefully. It helps them build persistence and confidence.

There are many options out there for kids who want to learn coding. Choosing age-appropriate computer programming curriculum helps kids gradually absorb the new knowledge in a way that is helpful to them in the long run.

Why Parents Need To Understand Their Kids Love For Technology

The current generation of kids was born in a world where the internet existed - they didn’t have to take computer courses for kids to learn how to use Microsoft Paint. This generation was using iPads when they were just 2 years old. They have already spent hundreds of hours in front of a screen before they reach school.

Hence, quite naturally, the kids have a deeper love for and attachment to technology than most parents do. While the parents grew up playing on the streets and trying to save every penny possible to be able to afford a weekly hour at cyber cafe, the kids have taken technology to be an omnipresent thing in their lives. Result? There are a lot of parents who resent their kids’ unhealthy attachment to everything related to technology and even try to curb it by limiting their screen time.

While it is true that spending unhealthy amounts of time in front of screens can have a disastrous effect in young kids’ health, especially their eyesight, it also remains true that these kids live in a world where it is impossible to refrain from heavy use of technology. What our generation considers special knowledge is just common and basic level of knowledge that every kid in this generation needs to have. Coding for kids, is one of those things. Learning a programming language has become equivalent to what was learning a English or some other foreign language in our day and time.

Even robotics for kids has become an important skill that most kids learn. While this is more common in Tier 1 cities only, even Tier 2&3 cities are getting a taste of advanced technology classes for kids. As parents, we need to stop resenting kids’ love for technology and encourage it as much as possible.
